things i get asked

some asked me, why is my name patter? there's not a specific meaning to it. An uncomplicated and at the same time fun sounding name is good. I love the calming pitter patter of the rain on a window and the cute pitter patter of little feet. And headpats are just such a sweet gesture, in the right context... I enjoy affectionate gestures like that a lot, getting them and giving them. It feels like a beautiful thing when you can share so much trust with another person that you're comfortable enough to touch and be close with them, not even in a romantic way necessarily... Just to have someone I can hug really tightly.

some asked me, how do I make my card images? i'd like to describe it more in the future, but in general, I use stable diffusion to do it. The process goes something like

  1. install automatic11111
  2. find an anime base checkpoint you like the look of, for me I like kakigori, feiwu and homo
  3. look for a style lora you like (i like watercolor, oil on canvas, and one that makes it look like a sketch)
  4. play around with it until you have a good concept of what your character looks like
  5. make some simple background / white background portrait gens of your character
  6. out of those pick which one you like the most
  7. sketch some adjustments like removing or adding details in an image editor
  8. img2img until you've made some improved ones
  9. repeat step 6 until you're happy
  10. use the built in background remover
  11. generate a background scene in the same style that fits your character's setting
  12. overlay the two in your image editor
  13. make any adjustments needed or img2img again
  14. and at the end of this process you should have a decent image.

some asked me, what are my inspirations for my characters? There are many, from life itself and nature to various films, books, comics, games, short stories, and some of those things I'll have up on my recs page as well. I'll feel a little spark of "this is a neat thing" once in a while, whatever I'm looking at or dreaming about or ..., then a "I should write it down", "this could be a character", and then a cycle of, "this is neat too... let me write it down", which will leave me with a big .txt file of ideas because I have to write things down immediately so I don't forget them... and this process of writing will give me a feeling of what this character will be like, I'll get to vibe with them and their story and the setting as a whole, and maybe the initial idea will have become completely different by then which this then has to be made understandable and clear through text somehow in a way that feels good to write.
